Job Summary
The San Mateo County Event Center is a public assembly facility which hosts a wide variety of events and produces the San Mateo County Fair, and operates the Jockey Club, a satellite wagering facility for horseracing as well as Creative Touch Catering, a full service catering and food service operation. The Stand Supervisor is responsible for the successful operation of assigned stands/areas by completing tasks such as setup, customer service, assisting staff, providing training to cashiers, all stand related paperwork and to ensure proper cash handling procedures. 

Hourly rate: $15.91 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct and participate in menu item preparation and set up of stand.
  • Oversee cash handling practices and techniques of stand workers to ensure that company policies are followed.
  • Manage and reconcile POS system for events.
  • Handle all cash in and cash out assignments for event cashiers.
  • Direct and assist with of clean-up of stands.
  • Ensure patron food and beverage orders are served quickly, properly and courteously.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of stand paperwork
  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner. Answer and engage in customer service orientated conversations. Respond appropriately to customer complaints.
  • Promote and up-sell products/menus to increase sales revenue.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
Responsible for the direction and supervision of Cashier Stand Workers.


  • Commitment to quality service, have a severely strong work ethic and be truly passionate about food.
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
  • Must have experience handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Principles of effective supervisory skills. 
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, co-workers, clients and customers using principles of good customer service.
  • Possess a positive attitude, work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Requires being responsible, reliable and dependable to fulfill job obligations. 
  • Work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Requirements
Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the responsibilities of this position. One year of supervisory cashier experience. High school diploma or equivalent. 

ServSafe or TIPS Certified or ability to become ServSafe or TIPS Certified.

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license and current automobile insurance.

Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
